Sophia Square orSofia Square (Ukrainian:Софійська площа,romanized: Sofiiska ploshcha) is a square in the center ofOld Kyiv,Ukraine. Located in theShevchenkivskyi District ofKyiv, the square lies in front ofSaint Sophia Cathedral, is bordered byVolodymyrska Street, and features amonument of Bohdan Khmelnytsky.
The city's Christmas and New Year's festivities have been held in this square since 2014, after they were moved fromMaidan Nezalezhnosti due to the events ofEuromaidan.[1]
