Sonja Bennett (born August 24, 1980) is aCanadian actress and screenwriter.^[2] Her film debut was in the Canadian feature filmPunch (2002), for which she won theVancouver Film Critics Circle Award for Best Actress in a Canadian Film. She has since starred in the filmsDonovan's Echo,Cole,Control Alt Delete,Young People Fucking, andFido as well as the television seriesGodiva's andCold Squad. In 2014, Bennett made her screenwriting debut withPreggoland in which she also starred.^[3]

Born inVancouver,British Columbia on August 24, 1980,^[1] Bennett is the daughter of director and writer Guy Bennett^[4] and Anna Hart. She was raised mainly by her mother, living in several locations.^[4] She is a graduate of Garibaldi Secondary School in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. She attended the University of British Columbia for two years on an academic scholarship. Following that, she attended Langara College in Vancouver,^[4] and enrolled in the Studio 58 program.

On the small screen, Bennett played recurring roles on the NBC seriesBattlestar Galactica, Warner Brothers'Traveler, New Line television seriesBlade as well asEureka,Dead Zone andCold Squad.^[5] She has played guest starring roles on the seriesSupernatural,Stargate Atlantis,Psych,Painkiller Jane,John Doe.^[6] Bennett also had a recurring role as the character Vivian Adams inMistresses (2015), and starred in theBravo!/CityTV series,Godiva's from 2005-2006.^[7]

Bennett starred in the 2002 filmPunch, which her father, Guy Bennett, wrote and directed.^[4] The movie was her feature film debut and led to her being awarded Best Actress by theVancouver Film Critics Circle.^[8] She has since appeared in the filmsDonovan's Echo,^[9]Cole,^[10]Control Alt Delete,^[11]Young People Fucking,^[12] andFido.^[13] She wrote the screenplay, her first, for the 2014 filmPreggoland, in which she also starred.^[14][15]
