Sonchus daltonii is a species of flowering plants of the familyAsteraceae. The species is endemic toCape Verde.[2] It is listed as endangered by the IUCN.[1] The genus was named byPhilip Barker Webb in 1849. Its local name iscoroa-de-rei ("king's crown").[3]
Sonchus daltonii occurs on the Capeverdean islands ofSanto Antão,São Vicente,São Nicolau,[4]Santiago andFogo. It grows in humid and sub-humid zones, mainly between 800 and 1,800 metres elevation. It is used for grazing animals, and it is highly threatened by nomadic grazing.[1]
