Solomon Chamberlin (July 30, 1788 – 1862) was the first person to evangelize the printedBook of Mormon. He preached from proof sheets during a tour amongBaptists andReformed Methodists in New York andUpper Canada while theGrandin press inPalmyra, New York, prepared volumes for publication.[1] Prior to his encounter with the Book of Mormon, Chamberlin published his own visionary experience asA Sketch of the Experience of Solomon Chamberlin (1829).[2]
Chamberlin traveled to what would becomeUtah in 1847 as part of theBrigham Young Vanguard Company.[3]
