
Snowshoe running, orsnowshoeing, is awinter sport practiced withsnowshoes, which is governed byWorld Snowshoe Federation (WSSF) founded in 2010, which until 2015 had its nameInternational Snowshoe Federation (ISSF).[1][2] The snowshoes running is part of theSpecial Olympics andArctic Winter Games programs.
TheWorld Snowshoe Federation (WSSF) is the global governing body of snowshoe running recognized by theInternational Olympic Committee.[3]
WSSF organized theWorld Snowshoe Championships in 2016 inVezza d'Oglio,Italy and in 2017 inSaranac Lake, NY from 24 February to 25 February 2017,[4] until the previous edition, theISSF 2015 World Snowshoe Championships, held inQuebec City,Canada, the championships were organized by the sameInternational federation, but with old name of ISSF.[5]
The name from International Snowshoeing Federation (ISSF) changed to World Snowshoe Federation (WSSF).
