Hurricane Harbor is a chain ofwater parks that are part of theSix Flagstheme park chain. Although the parks are not identical, common features include a variety of body slides, speed slides, tube slides,wave pools,lazy rivers, and shopping areas similar to other waterparks.
Some of the Six Flags Hurricane Harbor branded waterparks are included with admission to a Six Flags amusement park. While other waterparks in the chain are a separate admission to an adjacent Six Flags park (though access to the adjacent amusement park is included in some season passes and memberships to the waterpark), or are stand-alone waterparks with no adjacent Six Flags amusement park.
Six Flags began using the Hurricane Harbor brand in 1995 with the opening of Six Flags Hurricane Harbor adjacent toSix Flags Magic Mountain. That same year,Wet 'n Wild inArlington, Texas, was purchased by Six Flags. It operated as Wet 'n Wild — A Six Flags Park in 1995-1996 then wasrebranded as Six Flags Hurricane Harbor in 1997.[1] The brand has since become atrademark of the Six Flags franchise. In 1999,Six Flags St. Louis was the first Six Flags park to construct its own intra-park water attractions section.[2] As Six Flags acquired and rebranded parks in the 2000s, some existing water parks within these theme parks were later upgraded and rebranded as Hurricane Harbor.
Only two Hurricane Harbor parks has closed. AfterSix Flags Worlds of Adventure was sold toCedar Fair in 2004, the water park was renamed Hurricane Hannah's Waterpark. It was abandoned in 2006 and most of the attractions were relocated to anew waterpark on what used to be the marine life side of the park.[3] Hurricane Harbor Maryland atSix Flags America was permanently closed on September 6, 2025, ahead of its adjacent theme park's official closure on November 2, 2025.[4][5]

On September 30, 2012, a 19-year-old man fell off the Venom Drop slide that was part of the Black Snake Summit slide complex. He ignored the lifeguards and went down the slide head first on his stomach when protocol is to go down feet-first on the back. He fell off halfway down and hit the concrete. He was unconscious but breathing when he was taken to the hospital.[10]

Hurricane Harbor Maryland[11] was a water park located withinSix Flags America. It was known as Paradise Island until 2005 when it was rebranded Hurricane Harbor.
On May 1, 2025, Six Flags announced that the Six Flags America and Hurricane Harbor Marylandpark would close at the end of the 2025 season. Hurricane Harbor Maryland permanently closed on September 6, 2025, while Six Flags America will close on November 2, 2025.[5][12][13] The status on the water attractions was not given at the time of the announcement.[14]
