Asian Games appearances (overview)

Singapore participated in the2018 Asian Games inJakarta andPalembang,Indonesia from 18 August to 2 September 2018. It was Singapore's 18th appearance at theAsian Games, having competed at every Games since1951, and claimed 8 gold, 7 silver, and 12 bronze medals at the2006 Doha, as their best achievement this far. At the last edition of2014 Asian Games inIncheon, South Korea, the country won five gold, 6 silver, and 13 bronze medals.[1]

Singapore sent 265 athletes across 21 sports to compete in Jakarta and Palembang. Former Singaporean shooterLee Wung Yew assigned aschef de mission for the contingent. At theopening ceremony parade, gymnast Hoe Wah Toon was unveiled as the flag bearer. The country made its debut in four sports, include contract bridge, artistic swimming, ju-jitsu and paragliding.[2]

Singaporean public broadcasting conglomerateMediacorp held the broadcast rights of the 2018 Asian Games in the country. It broadcast the games through seven live channels on digital video on demand serviceToggle (now meWATCH) including oktoSports.[3][4]
