InMandaeism,Simat Hayyi orSimat Hiia (Classical Mandaic:ࡎࡉࡌࡀࡕ ࡄࡉࡉࡀ,lit.'Treasure of Life',Modern Mandaic pronunciation:[siˈmɑtˈhejji]), the feminine personification of life, is anuthra (angel or guardian) from theWorld of Light who is married toYawar Ziwa.[1][2]

The nameSimat Hayyi ("Life's Treasure"), along with the nameNiṭufta ("Drop", sometimes also translated as "Cloud"), are names used for the consort ofYawar Ziwa or the GreatMana in theWorld of Light.[3]

Jorunn Jacobsen Buckley interprets a passage in theQulasta referring to Simat Hayyi coming forth from theWorld of Darkness and eventually being raised to the Place of Light as referring toRuha, noting thatE. S. Drower had interpreted it in reference toZahreil, but arguing that Zahreil never left the World of Darkness. Buckley therefore argues that the Mandaean texts consider Ruha will eventually attainredemption, and merge with herdmuta (ideal counterpart) in the World of Light.[3]

Chapters 57–59 of theMandaean Book of John are dedicated to Simat Hayyi.[4]
