Sigvard Emanuel "Sigge"Parling (26 March 1930 – 17 September 2016) was a Swedishfootballer. He also playedice hockey andbandy.
During his career he played forDjurgårdens IF (1949–1960),IK Sirius (1960–1963) andGefle IF (1963–1965). His position wasleft midfielder and was considered a very rough but fair player. During his time in Djurgården he was known as the firstJärnkamin (Iron Stove). Parling wascapped 195 times for Djurgården and scored 12 goals.[2] He won theSwedish Championship twice with Djurgårdens IF, 1955 and 1959.[2]
Parling was part of the legendarySweden national team at the1958 FIFA World Cup[3] and was capped 37 times for his country.[4]
Parling is the only player from Djurgårdens IF who has played aWorld Cup Final.[5] He died on 17 September 2016 at the age of 86.[6]
As a bandy player, Parling won theSwedish Bandy Final together withIK Sirius in 1961.[7]
