Sidi Azeiz Airfield, or Sidi Azeis is an abandonedWorld War II military airfield in theeastern desert ofLibya. It was located southwest ofBardia,Butnan District, Libya and near theEgypt–Libya border near Jabbanat Sidi, about 100 km east ofTobruk. German Coordinates are given as31°40′00″N24°54′00″E / 31.66667°N 24.90000°E /31.66667; 24.90000
It was used by theUnited States Army Air ForceNinth Air Force during theWestern Desert campaign (named due to the stretch of the Sahara in Egypt being called the Western Desert) by the BritishEighth Army, which the57th Fighter Group, flewCurtiss P-40 Warhawks from on 12–13 November 1942.
The airfield was likely a compacted desert dirt flight strip, and was abandoned as the Allied forces moved west towardsTobruk. Close examination aerial photography of the hard desert about 10 miles west of Burdi shows some evidence of disturbance which could indicate where it existed.
