Ancient town in Caria

Side (Ancient Greek:Σίδη). also known asSibde (Σίβδη), was a town ofancient Caria. According toPliny the Elder,Alexander the Great united inHalicarnassus six cities bysynoecism, including Side, next toTheangela,Medmasa,Uranium,Pedasa, andTelmissus.[1]Strabo, however, points out that this synoecism would have been carried out earlier, during the reign ofMausolus (c. 370 BCE).[2]

Its site is tentatively located nearAlazeytin,Turkey.[3]
