Shyam Nandan SahayCIE was an Indian landlord, educationist, legislator and the founder vice chancellor ofBabasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University.[1] Born in the Indian state ofBihar, he also served as the vice chancellor ofPatna University.[2] He was a member of the1st Lok Sabha, elected fromMuzaffarpur Central constituency onIndian National Congress candidature.[3] He won from Muzaffarpur again in 1957 but died in the same year. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of thePadma Bhushan, in 1957, for his contributions to education.[4] A road inMuzaffarpur is named after him.[citation needed]
