County in Fars, Iran
Shiraz County (Persian :شهرستان شیراز ) is inFars province, Iran. Its capital is the city ofShiraz .[ 3]
After the 2006 National Census,Kavar District was separated from the county in the establishment ofKavar County ;[ 4] Korbal District to establishKharameh County ;[ 5] Sarvestan District in establishingSarvestan County .[ 6] Khaneh Zenyan [ 7] Sadra were elevated to city status.
After the 2016 census,Zarqan District was separated from the county in the establishment ofZarqan County .[ 8] Siyakh Darengun Rural District was separated from theCentral District in the formation ofSiyakh Darengun District , including the newDarengun Rural District .[ 9]
In 2024,Darian Rural District and the city ofDarian were separated from the Central District to formDarian District , including the newTarbor Rural District .[ 10]
At the time of the 2006 census, the county's population was 1,676,927 in 427,268 households.[ 11] [ 12] [ 2]
