Shining Knight (Welsh:Marchog Disglair;Breton:Marc'heg Lugernus) is the name of multiplesuperheroes appearing inAmerican comic books published byDC Comics.The original version was created byCreig Flessel and first appeared inAdventure Comics #66 (September 1941).

Sir Justin

The original Shining Knight (Sir Justin) debuted during the Golden Age and Modern Age of Comic Books and is a founding member of theSeven Soldiers of Victory.

Gardner Grayle

During DC's "Silver Age"crossover event (not to be confused with the actualSilver Age of Comic Books),Dick Giordano andGeoff Johns created a new Seven Soldiers of Victory to fight anInjustice League that had possessed the bodies of theJustice League of America.[1]

Gardner Grayle, who would later become theAtomic Knight, took an experimental suit of armor and called himself Shining Knight for this one mission. This version of the Seven Soldiers withBatgirl,Deadman,Metamorpho,Blackhawk,Adam Strange andMento only served in one mission and the Shining Knight armor was destroyed.

Ystina

Ystina is a reimagined character of the original created byGrant Morrison for theSeven Soldiers comic book.[2]

Sigfried

Wonder Woman's one-time love interest Sigurðr, named for theNorse character of the same name, also known as "Sigfried" or "Siggy", was introduced inWonder Woman #770 (2021) by writersMichael W. Conrad andBecky Cloonan.[3] He is a Norseeinherjar warrior who befriended Wonder Woman when she was trapped inValhalla following her death, and gifted her his magical swordGram. He was resurrected inWonder Woman #784 as the Shining Knight under the control ofDoctor Psycho, before his memories and sanity are restored to him.[4] He then becomes aWonder Woman supporting character and the roommate ofSteve Trevor.[5] Siggy is also bisexual.[6]

Kingdom Come

In the 1996miniseriesKingdom Come, there is a background character namedShining Knight II. This version is more futuristic than his predecessors and comes with a giant, metal dragon namedDragonknight.[7]

Titans Tomorrow

An older version of Ystina has appeared inTeen Titans (vol. 3) #52 as a member of the Titans Army from theTitans Tomorrow future.[8]

JLA: Another Nail

[edit]

The Shining Knight and Victory made a brief appearance in Elseworlds'JLA: Another Nail when all time periods meld together.[9]
