Sherwood Shores is anunincorporated community andcensus-designated place inGrayson County,Texas, United States. Its population was 1,190 as of the2010 census.[1] The community is located on theRed River, which forms the state line withOklahoma.
Sherwood Shores was mostly destroyed by an F4 tornado onApril 18, 1970, which resulted in 13 deaths in the community and at least three others elsewhere along the path.[3][4] OnMarch 21, 2022, an EF2 tornado struck the town, causing heavy damage, killing one person and injuring 11.[5][6][7]
According to theU.S. Census Bureau, the community has an area of 4.041 square miles (10.47 km2); 2.849 square miles (7.38 km2) of its area is land, and 1.192 square miles (3.09 km2) is water.[1]
