Jermaine "Shea"Showers (born January 11, 1974) is a formerAmerican footballdefensive back who played seven seasons in theArena Football League (AFL) with theIowa Barnstormers,New York Dragons,Grand Rapids Rampage andTampa Bay Storm. He playedcollege football at theUniversity of Florida and attendedSanta Fe High School inAlachua, Florida.[1]
Showers playedhigh school football for the Santa Fe Raiders. He recorded 40 receptions for 711 yards and 11 touchdowns his senior year as the Raider won the Class 3A state title. He also accumulated 90 tackles and five interceptions.[2]
Showers was a member of theFlorida Gators from 1992 to 1996.[2]
Showers played for theIowa Barnstormers from 1998 to 2000, earning Second TeamAll-Arena honors in 1999 and being named to theAFL's All-Rookie Team in 1998.[3] He signed with theTampa Bay Storm on January 8, 2001.[4] He played for theNew York Dragons from 2001 to 2002.[5][6] Showers was signed by theGrand Rapids Rampage December 10, 2002.[7] He signed with theTampa Bay Storm on December 16, 2003.[8]
Showers was defensive backs coach atFort White High School inFort White, Florida in 2007.[9] He served as head football coach at theSanta Fe High School inAlachua, Florida from 2008 to 2010.[1][10] He became an assistant coach for theFort White High School inFort White, Florida in 2011.[9]
