Shaun Toub (born February 15, 1958)[2] is an American actor. He has played the characterYinsen inIron Man (2008) andIron Man 3 (2013); Farhad inCrash (2004); Rahim Khan inThe Kite Runner (2007); Majid Javadi in theShowtime television seriesHomeland; and Faraz Kamali in theApple TV+ Israeli seriesTehran (2020).[3]
Toub was born to anIranian Jewish family,[4] inTehran,[1]Imperial State of Iran. His parents were both podiatrists. At age 2, he moved toManchester,England,[5] where his mother attended podiatry school. He returned to Iran, where he lived until he was 13, before moving toSwitzerland. He moved toNashua, New Hampshire to finish his last year of high school.[citation needed] He decided at age five to become an actor.[6]
He received the Cinema Sepharad award at the 2022 Los AngelesSephardic Film Festival.[7]
His filmography includes his performance inMichael Bay'sBad Boys withWill Smith andMartin Lawrence,John Woo'sBroken Arrow withJohn Travolta andChristian Slater andMick Jackson'sLive from Baghdad starringMichael Keaton andHelena Bonham Carter forHBO.
