Sharrod Victor Ford (born September 9, 1982) is an American former professionalbasketball player. He played briefly in theNational Basketball Association (NBA), as well as in a variety of top leagues around the world.
Ford attendedClemson University from 2001 to 2005. At Clemson, he became the school's first player to lead his team in points and rebounds for two consecutive seasons sinceHorace Grant in the 1980s.[1]
Ford went undrafted at the2005 NBA draft. On November 2, 2005, he signed with thePhoenix Suns.[2] He was waived by the Suns on December 24, 2005, after appearing in threeNBA league games.[3]
On January 10, 2006, he was acquired by theFayetteville Patriots of theNBA D-League.[4] He appeared in 15 games for the Patriots.[5] In February 2006, he moved to Germany and signed withAlba Berlin for the rest of the season. With Alba he won the 2006German Cup.[6] On July 31, 2006, he re-signed with Alba for one more season.[7]
For the 2007–08 season, he signed with the Italian clubSutor Montegranaro. For the 2008–09 season, he moved toVirtus Bologna, also of Italy. With Bologna, he won the2008–09 FIBA EuroChallenge.[8]
On September 18, 2009, he signed withSpartak Saint Petersburg.[9] On November 16, 2009, he parted ways with Spartak.[10] On January 10, 2010, he returned to Italy, and signed withBasket Club Ferrara, for the rest of the season.[11] On July 19, 2010, he returned to his former team. Sutor Montegranaro. for the 2010–11 season.[12]
On July 21, 2011, he signed withBayern Munich.[13] However, he left the team during the pre-season.[14] In February 2012, he joined theErie BayHawks of the NBA D-League, but left after only 6 games.[5]
On August 20, 2012, he signed with the German clubBrose Baskets.[15] With Brose Baskets, he won the2012–13 Bundesliga, and the 2013BBL Champions Cup.[6] On July 29, 2013, he re-signed with Brose for one more season.[16]
On June 30, 2014, he signed a one-year deal withParis-Levallois.[17] On April 16, 2015, he was named to theAll-EuroCup Second Team, after averaging 15.1 points and 8.8 rebounds per game.[18]
On July 24, 2015, he signed withAcıbadem Üniversitesi of theTurkish Basketball Second League.[19] On August 3, 2016, he re-signed with Acıbadem Üniversitesi for one more season.[20]
