Sharran (Arabic:شران), also known asSharranli, is a village in northernSyria, administratively part of theAleppo Governorate, located northwest ofAleppo near theTurkish border. Nearby localities includeAzaz andQatma to the east andAfrin to the south. According to theSyria Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Sharran had a population of 2,596 in the 2004 census. The town is also the administrative center of the Sharrannahiyah of theAfrin District consisting of 35 villages with a combined population of 13,632.[1] On March 6, 2018, the town came under the control of theSyrian National Army supported by theTurkish Armed Forces.

In late 19th century, German orientalistMartin Hartmann noted Sharranli as a settlement with 25 houses inhabited byTurkmen.[2]
