Sergio de Larrea Asenjo (born 4 December 2005) is a Spanish professionalbasketball player forValencia of the SpanishLiga ACB and theEuroCup.

Early life

De Larrea was born on 4 December 2005 inValladolid, Spain.[1] His parents both playedbasketball, with his father being a member of Club Deportivo Universitario and his mother playing for the team at theUniversity of Valladolid.[2] He grew up playing basketball and attendedColegio San Agustín.[3] After playing for a time with the team at his school, he left to join the clubValencia Basket, training with their youth team.[4]

Professional career

De Larrea averaged 8.0 points for the Valencia U18 team in the 2020–21 season, then averaged 18.0 points for the Valencia reserve team in theSegunda LEB (third-tier) in 2021–22.[1] He played most of the 2022–23 season withCB L'Horta Godella [es] in the LEB league, averaging 10.1 points.[1] He was promoted and made his senior debut for Valencia in January 2023, inEuroLeague play, at the age of 17.[5] He returned to L'Horta Godella in 2023–24 and averaged 13.7 points, while also appearing in two games for Valencia.[1][6] After declining offers to playcollege basketball in the U.S., he returned to Valencia for the 2024–25 season and played regularly for the team atpoint guard.[2][3]

De Larrea has been seen as a potential selection in the2025 NBA draft.[7]

International career

De Larrea helped Spain win a silver medal at the2022 FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup.[8] The following year, he helped Spain win the2023 FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup, and in 2024, he competed at theEuropean U20 championship.[8] He was called up to thesenior national team and trained with them prior to the2024 Summer Olympics.[9] He made his senior national debut against theDominican Republic in June 2024.[9]
