Sergio Lobera Rodríguez (born 16 January 1977) is a Spanish professionalfootball manager who is currently the head coach ofIndian Super League club Mohun Bagan

Managerial career

Lobera was born inZaragoza,Aragon. After impressing with Dosa Salesians and UFB Jàbac Terrassa he signed withFC Barcelona in 1997,[2] going through its youth system and being the manager of theC team in2006–07, in theTercera División. He was appointedsporting director atTerrassa FC in June 2007,[3] also being their coach for the last seven games ofthe season.[4]

In May 2010, Lobera was appointedCD San Roque de Lepe manager, agreeing to a three-year deal.[5]The following campaign, he was in charge ofAD Ceuta also in theSegunda División B.[6]

On 11 May 2012, Lobera was namedFC Barcelona's assistant manager behindTito Vilanova.[7] However, roughly a month later, he signed as head coach ofSegunda División sideUD Las Palmas.[8][9]

Lobera finished hisfirst season in charge of a professional club in sixth position, being defeated inthe play-offs by eventually promotedUD Almería.[10] He renewed with theCanarians on 18 June 2013,[11] but was relieved of his duties on 26 May of the following year.[12]

On 24 December 2014, Lobera was appointed atBotola'sMoghreb Tétouan until the end ofthe season.[13] On 6 June 2017 he moved countries again, joiningFC Goa from theIndian Super League on a two-year contract.[14]

On 17 November 2018, Lobera renewed his link at theFatorda Stadium until 2020.[15] Five months later, he led his team tothe conquest of theIndian Super Cup.[16] On 31 January 2020, however, he was dismissed despite being top ofthe table after several run-ins with the board of directors.[17][18]

Lobera continued in the Indian top flight in March 2020, signing withMumbai City FC.[19] He was officially presented on 12 October,[20] being crowned champion in hisdebut campaign.[21]

On 19 January 2022, Lobera was appointed atChina League One clubSichuan Jiuniu FC.[22] Unsuccessful in securing promotion to theSuper League, he left after a singleseason and a seventh-place finish.[23]

On 17 May 2023, Lobera became the head coach ofOdisha FC on a two-year deal in his return to India.[24]
