Serena Harriet Scott Thomas (born 21 September 1961) is an English actress and documentary producer. Her television roles includeDiana, Princess of Wales inDiana: Her True Story in 1993. Her film appearances includeThe World Is Not Enough (1999),Hostage (2005),Brothel (2008), andInherent Vice (2014).

Early life

Scott Thomas was born inNether Compton,Dorset. Her mother, Deborah (née Hurlbatt), was brought up inHong Kong and Africa, and studied drama before marrying her father,[1]Lieutenant Commander Simon Scott Thomas, a pilot in theRoyal Navy who died in a flying accident in 1966.[2][3] ActressKristin Scott Thomas is her older sister; she has two other siblings.

Career

Scott Thomas is known for her portrayal ofDiana, Princess of Wales, in the television mini-seriesDiana: Her True Story (1993), and for playing the lead in theTV filmHarnessing Peacocks (1993) andDr. Molly Warmflash in theJames Bond filmThe World Is Not Enough (1999). She played a villainous "watcher" in theBuffy the Vampire Slayer episode"Revelations" (1998) and also starred in the short-lived seriesAll Souls (2001), as well as playingBruce Willis's wife in the filmHostage (2005). She appeared on the television showsNip/Tuck andNCIS[citation needed] and starred in the filmBrothel (2008). She played the role ofCarole Middleton, mother ofKate Middleton, inWilliam & Kate: The Movie, a biopic of Kate's romance withPrince William. Serena Scott appeared onPeacock'sDays of Our Lives as Fiona Cook, mother of Xander Cook.[4]
