Arun, straight orsequence is a combination ofplaying cards where cards have consecutive rank values.[1] The cards do not normally need to be in one type of suit. However, if they are, this is referred to as asuit sequence.[2] Some games, such ascribbage, specify that an ace counts as one ("ace low"); others, such asspades, specify that an ace counts above a King ("ace high"); yet others, such aspoker, allow an ace to count either high or low.
Runs are one of the two types ofmeld that may be used in games where melding is part of the play; the other being aset or group, such as a pair or triplet.
Anatural sequence, as opposed to one that iswild, is one that consists purely of 'natural cards', without anywild cards such asjokers ordeuces.[3]
