Segmental resection, orsegmentectomy, is asurgical procedure to remove part of an organ orgland as a sub-type ofresection, which might involve removing the whole body part. It may also be used to remove atumor and the normal tissue around it. Inlung cancer surgery, segmental resection refers to removing a section of alobe of thelung. Theresection margin needed to be free of cancerous cells.
