Segarcea is a small town inDolj County,Oltenia,Romania. It has 7,356 inhabitants (2021 census), in an area of 12,008 ha (29,670 acres).[3]
The town is located towards the western end of theWallachian Plain, about 30 km (19 mi) north of theDanube and 25 km (16 mi) south ofCraiova, the county seat. Situated in the east-central part of Dolj County, Segarcea belongs to theCraiova metropolitan area.
The town is famous for itswhite wines. The Segarcea vineyard belongs to theRomanian Crown Estate; it has gained fame for wines produced and exported to many countries of the world under the trade name "The Crown Domain".[4]
