For the musical instrument, seeSitar.

According toAkilattirattu Ammanai, the scripture of theAyyavazhi religion,Ayya Vaikundar, the Incarnation ofLord Narayana inKali Yukam, has fiveSeedar (disciples). They were in the previous Dwapara Yukam asPandavas who weretransmigrated as disciples of Vaikundar in thisYuga.

The Five Seedar

Dharma Seedar

The native place of Dharma Seedar isMayiladi, a town inKanyakumari district ofTamil Nadu. He was Dharmar, the elder of thePandavas in the previousDwapara Yukam. In history he was known asSivanandi.

Bhiman Seedar

The native place of Bhiman Citar isKarumbattoor, a village in the district ofKanyakumari. He was Bhima, the most courageous of the Pandavas in the previous Dwapara Yukam. In history he was known asPantaram (his name).

Arjunan Seedar

The native place of Arjunan Seedar isPillayar Kudiyiruppu, a village in the district ofKanyakumari. He wasArjuna, one among Pandavas in the previous Dwapara Yukam. In history he was known as Arjunan.

Nakulan Seedar

The native place of Nakulan Seedar isColachel, a town in the district ofKanyakumari. Among the Pandavas in the previous Dwapara Yukam he wasNakula. In history he was known asSubaiah.

Sakatevan Seedar

Hari Gopalan Citar, also known as Sakatevan Citar, is considered to be the most important among the Seedars because he was the man to writeAkilattirattu Ammanai (Akilam), the holy scripture of Ayyavazhi. In theAdiyeduttharulal part inAkilam One of Akilattirattu he claims that it was not he, butGod who wrote the contents ofAkilam.

Akilam says that he wasSakadeva, one among thePanchapandavas and he was made to be born in Kali Yukam in a village south to Swamithoppe. He was known as Sakadevan in human history. There are also some reports claiming that Hari Gopalan Citar wasilliterate and he did not know even thealphabets ofTamil before he wrote Akilam.
