Thesecretary of state of the Navy (French:Secrétaire d'État de la Marine) was one of the four or five specialisedsecretaries of state inFrance during theAncien Régime. This officeholder was responsible for theFrench Navy and for all of theFrench colonies. In 1791, at the end of the French Monarchy during theFrench Revolution, this title was changed toMinister of the Navy.
