Sebaste (Ancient Greek:Σεβαστή) was a town ofPhrygia Pacatiana inancient Phrygia, inhabited inRoman andByzantine times.[1] It was located betweenAlydda andEumenia. It became the seat of a Christian bishop, mentioned byHierocles,[2] and in the Acts of the Council of Constantinople, which its bishop attended.[3] No longer a residential bishopric, it remains, under the nameSebaste in Phrygia, atitular see of theRoman Catholic Church.[4]
Its site is located nearSelçikler inAsiatic Turkey.[1][5]
