Sean Fletcher (born 20 April 1974)[1] is an American-English[2] journalist, and television presenter best known as a presenter onGood Morning Britain and onCountryfile.

Fletcher has also presented theITV daytime game showRebound (2015–2016) and theBBC Sunday morning talk showSunday Morning Live (2017–present).

Early life and education

Born inNew York City to aZimbabwean-born mother andEnglish father, he was brought up inEssex.[3]

Fletcher was educated atFelsted School, anindependent school in the village ofFelsted (nearGreat Dunmow) in Essex,[4] followed byKing's College London, where he obtained a degree inGeography.

Career

After training as a music producer, Fletcher began his journalism career inCardiff, producing packages forBBC Radio Wales. He then moved toLondon to work behind the scenes atRadio 5 Live. Several years later he began working onBBC 2W, the digital TV channel for Wales. He also presented and reported on sport forBBC Wales Today.

From 2005 until 2011, Fletcher presented sports bulletins on the rolling news channelBBC News, and has also presented sport on theBBC Weekend News andBBC Breakfast onBBC One as well asBBC World News. In March 2010, Fletcher began reporting on news stories forBBC Breakfast.

In October 2011, Fletcher left theBBC to joinSky Sports News, where he worked until his departure in early 2014.

On 3 March 2014, it was announced Fletcher would become a sports newsreader on the newITV Breakfast programmeGood Morning Britain.[5] He first appeared on the programme on its opening day, 28 April 2014. He is now a regular news presenter on the programme.

In 2015, Fletcher presentedRebound, a ten-part daytime game show forITV, airing in the 5 pm slot.[6] A second series of the show was produced and aired in 2016.[7] In September 2015, he appeared in an episode ofAll Star Mr & Mrs alongside his wife Luned.

Since October 2015, Fletcher has been an occasional reporter forCountryfile onBBC One.

Fletcher co-presented theBBC Two seriesFood Detectives alongsideTom Kerridge andAlice Roberts in 2016.[8] Since 2017, he has presented the Sunday morningBBC One programmeSunday Morning Live initially alongsideEmma Barnett.[9] He has also been an occasional co-presenter of theBBC One Sunday programmeSongs of Praise.

In September 2017, Fletcher replacedMatthew Wright as presenter of BBC's current affairs programmeInside Out London. In October 2017, he co-presentedBritain's Classroom Heroes withNaga Munchetty onBBC Two.

Personal life

Fletcher speaks Welsh fluently,[10] and is married to Luned Tonderai, a Welsh television producer and director.[11] The couple have two children.[12] He is aChristian,[13] and supportsTottenham Hotspur F.C.

Charity

In September 2015, Sean became an ambassador for theBeating Bowel Cancer charity.[14] He ran the2015 and2016 London Marathon to raise money for the charity.[15] In 2017, Fletcher ran theLondon Marathon for mental health charities Heads Together and Young Minds UK. In 2018 he ran his fourth London Marathon for Young Minds UK, for whom he is an ambassador. He is a trustee of Orchard, a charity that funds research into new treatments forObsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and he regularly hostswebinars with leading figures in OCD treatment.

In 2016, he played for the 'Rest of the World' team on ITV's celebrity football matchSoccer Aid, which supportsUNICEF UK.
