Seamus Patrick Dever (born July 27, 1976) is an American actor known for his role asDetectiveKevin Ryan in theABC seriesCastle.

Dever was born inFlint, Michigan, and moved at the age of six toBullhead City, Arizona, where he grew up.^[1] He graduated asvaledictorian ofMohave High School, completed his undergraduate studies atNorthern Arizona University, and holdsMFAs in Acting from theMoscow Art Theatre andCarnegie-Mellon University.^[2]

A lifetime member of theActors Studio, Dever marriedJuliana Dever on May 27, 2006.^[3] Juliana played Kevin Ryan's wife Jenny onCastle.^[4] He is a cousin ofBroadway actress Jeanne Arnold and Canadian singer-songwriterFeist.^[5]

Dever and his wife arevegetarians.^[6] Both are also supporters ofBest Friends Animal Society.^[6]

Dever also starred in a celebrity episode of the American version ofThe Chase, in Season 3 (2014), where he scored 11 questions in the preliminaries and led a team withDean Cain to defeat the Chaser,Mark Labbett.
