Scott Daly (born February 7, 1994) is an American professionalfootballlong snapper for theChicago Bears of theNational Football League (NFL). He playedcollege football for theNotre Dame Fighting Irish.

Early life

Daly beganlong snapping in the fifth grade.[1] He attendedDowners Grove South High School. He playedtight end and also handled the team's long-snapping duties. As a junior, he received All-conference and honorable-mention All-area honors at tight end. He is of Irish descent.[2]

As a senior, he scored his first career touchdown in the season opener. He was named the national high school long snapper of the year and was ranked the number one long snapper in the nation byScout.com. In April 2011, he committed to theUniversity of Notre Dame.[3]

College career

Daly accepted a football scholarship from theUniversity of Notre Dame.[4] As a freshman in 2012, he did not see any action behind Jordan Cowart.

As a sophomore in 2013, he was named the team's long snapper for all 13 games. He posted 2special teams tackles. As a junior in 2014, he was perfect on 127 snapping opportunities.

As a senior in 2015, he started all 13 games, accumulating 39 straight over his first three seasons. He was perfect on 126 snapping opportunities and contributed toJustin Yoon freshmanAll-American season. On October 31 againstTemple University, he posted his firstspecial teams tackle since 2013. On November 21, he recovered a fumble on a muffed punt at the 4-yard line in a game againstBoston College.[5] He also was recognized for his work in sending supplies to theDominican Republic.[6] He played a total of 39 games during his college career.

Daly was not selected in the2017 NFL draft. He instead received an invitation for a rookieminicamp tryout with theChicago Bears in May.[8] The Bears decided against signing him to a contract and Daly spent the 2017 season out of football.

Dallas Cowboys

On April 16, 2018, Daly signed as afree agent with theDallas Cowboys.[9] On September 1, he was waived, after not being able to pass stalwart starterL.P. Ladouceur on the depth chart.[10]

San Antonio Commanders

On October 26, 2018, Daly signed with theSan Antonio Commanders of theAlliance of American Football.[11] He played with the team until the league ceased operations in April 2019.[12]

New York Guardians

In October 2019, Daly was selected by theNew York Guardians of theXFL in the open phase of the2020 XFL draft.[13] He had his contract terminated when the league suspended operations on April 10, 2020.[14]

Detroit Lions

On May 4, 2021, Daly signed as afree agent with theDetroit Lions.[15] He earned the long snapper job during the preseason after passing 17-year veteranDon Muhlbach on the depth chart.[16] During the 2024 training camp, Daly was informed that rookieHogan Hatten passed him on the depth chart, ultimately leading to Daly’s release.

Chicago Bears

On August 29, 2024, Daly was signed to theChicago Bears' practice squad.[17] He was promoted to the active roster on September 14 and started in lieu of the injuredPatrick Scales.[18] Daly would start all 17 of Chicago's games during the regular season.

On August 27, 2025, Daly was released by Chicago as part of final roster cuts; he was re-signed to the team's active roster the following day.[19]
