Sayyeshaa Saigal (born 12 August 1997), knownmononymously asSayyeshaa, is an Indian actress who primarily works inTamil films. She made her acting debut with the Telugu filmAkhil (2015), for which she receivedSIIMA Award for Best Female Debut – Telugu nomination.[4]

Sayyeshaa made her Hindi film debut withShivaay (2016), receivingStardust Award for Superstar of Tomorrow – Female nomination.[5] She then made her Tamil film debut withVanamagan (2017) and receivedSIIMA Award for Best Debut Actress - Tamil nomination. Her successful films includeKaappaan (2019) andYuvarathnaa (2021), her Kannada film debut.[6]

Sayyeshaa was born as Sayyeshaa Saigal on 12 August 1997 inMumbai,Maharashtra.[1][7] She is the daughter of actorsSumeet Saigal and Shaheen Banu.[8][9] Sayyeshaa is the grandniece of actorsSaira Banu, who is her mother's aunt andDilip Kumar, and the great granddaughter ofNaseem Banu.[10][11]

Sayyeshaa completed her schooling fromEcole Mondiale World School, Juhu.[12] Her parents got divorced in 2003. ActressFarah Naaz is her step-mother.[13]

Sayyeshaa started dating Tamil actorArya afterGhajinikanth (2019).[3] They got married on 10 March 2019, according toIslamic traditions inHyderabad.[14][15] Their daughter Ariana was born on 23 July 2021.[16] Tamil actorSathya is her brother-in-law.[17]

Sayyeshaa made her film debut in 2015 with the Telugu filmAkhil.[citation needed] She portrayed a medical student oppositeAkhil Akkineni. The film was a commercial failure.[citation needed]Times of India noted, "Sayyeshaa is a surprise even though she isn’t given much to do. She emotes really well and dances like a dream." She receivedSIIMA Award for Best Female Debut – Telugu nomination for the film.[18]

She made her Hindi film debut oppositeAjay Devgn in his second directorial filmShivaay.[19] She portrayed an IFS officer. It was commercially unsuccessful but ran for more than 50 days at the box office.[20]Bollywood Hungama stated, "Sayyeshaa does justice to her character."[21] WhileTimes of India termed her performance "decent". She received aStardust Award for Superstar of Tomorrow – Female nomination for her performance.[22]

In 2017, she made her Tamil film debut withVanamagan.[23] She portrayed a businesswoman oppositeJayam Ravi.[citation needed]Deccan Chronicle stated, "Sayyeshaa looks ravishing and she steals the show with her effortless performance."[24]

Sayyeshaa had three releases in 2018. She first appeared oppositeKarthi inKadaikutty Singam.[25] It was a box-office success.[26]Deccan Chronicle mentioned, "Sayyeshaa looks beautiful and hogs the limelight despite limited scope."[27] Next, she appeared inJunga oppositeVijay Sethupathi.[28][29]Hindustan Times noted, "Sayyeshaa looks gorgeous, her role is minimal but she has done it well."[30] She next appeared inGhajinikanth, a remake of the Telugu filmBhale Bhale Magadivoy. She portrayed a Kuchupudi dancer oppositeArya.[31][32]Sify mentioned, "Sayyeshaa looks super gorgeous. The actress scores well with her cute expressions and energetic moves."[33]

Sayyeshaa portrayed PM's press secretary oppositeSuriya in the 2019 filmKaappaan. It also starredMohanlal, and Arya.[34] It was a commercial success.[35]The Weektermed her role as a "better fleshed out character".[36]

Sayyeshaa had two releases in 2021. She first portrayed a college student opposite Arya inTeddy.[37] It released onDisney+ Hotstar.[38]India Today stated, "Arya's chemistry with Sayyeshaa has worked really well. It makes you root for both the characters."[39] She made her Kannada film debut withYuvarathnaa oppositePuneeth Rajkumar.[40] She portrayed a lecturer in this commercially successful film.[41]The Hans India wrote, "Sayyeshaa has limited screen space but she looks gorgeous in those brief moments."[42]

In 2023, Sayyeshaa made a special appearance in the song "Raawadi" for the Tamil filmPathu Thala starringSilambarasan.[43][44]
