Saud Anwar (born October 5, 1967) is anAmerican physician and politician, who serves as a member of theConnecticut State Senate, representing the 3rd District.[1] The district includes the towns ofEast Hartford,South Windsor,East Windsor, andEllington. A member of theDemocratic Party, Anwar was previously the mayor ofSouth Windsor, Connecticut from 2013 to 2015, as well as 2017 to 2019.[2] A pulmonary physician by profession,[3] he is a graduate ofYale University andAga Khan University. He has two children.[4]

He currently serves as deputy president pro tempore of the Senate and co-chairs the Public Health Committee along with RepresentativeCristin McCarthy Vahey. Additionally he is a vice chair of the Insurance and Real Estate Committee and a member of the Appropriations, Housing, and Human Services committees.[5]
