Satterleigh and Warkleigh is acivil parish inNorth Devon district,Devon, England. In the2011 census it was recorded as having a population of 170.[1]
The parish was created in 1894, combining the two previous parishes of the same names.[2]
Several locational surnames were derived from Satterleigh. Some of those include Saturley, Saturleigh, Saterleigh, Saterleye, Satterlie, Satterlee, Satterleigh, Satterley, andSatterly.[3][4][5]
A combinedparish council serves Satterleigh and Warkleigh and the neighbouring parish as the Chittlehamholt, Satterleigh and Warkleigh Parish Council.[6][7]
The neighbouring parishes areChittlehampton to the north,King's Nympton to the east,Chittlehamholt to the south, andHigh Bickington inTorridge district to the west.[8]
St Peter's Church, Satterleigh is a Grade Ilisted redundant church in the care of theChurches Conservation Trust.[9][10] St John the Evangelist Church, Warkleigh is Grade II* listed.[11] Both churches are part of the South Molton Mission, in theDiocese of Exeter.[12][13][14][15]
There are 35listed buildings in the parish, all at Grade II except the two churches.[16]
