Titular bishopric
Asia minor 400AD Satala (Ancient Greek :Σάταλα ) orSatala in Lydia was aRoman era city[ 1] [ 2] andBishopric [ 3] inancient Lydia .
Its site is located nearAdala inAsiatic Turkey .[ 4] [ 5]
The city worshiped the typicalmother and son pantheon found throughoutAnatolia , and although a temple was built it did not mint coint as the town was only a village. It was part of adecapolis called the Katakekaumene, and May have been its religious center.
The city was also asee in the province ofLydia , and remains a vacant andtitular see to this day.[ 6] It is in the province ofSardis .
Known Bishops
Today Satala Lidia survives as titular bishop of theRoman Catholic Church but the seat is vacant since 22 October 1819 .
