Sarzedo is aBrazilianmunicipality located in thestate ofMinas Gerais. The city belongs to the mesoregion Metropolitana de Belo Horizonte and to the microregion of Belo Horizonte. As of 2020, the estimated population was 33,413.[1]

History

Sarzedo is a municipality in the state ofMinas Gerais,Brazil, located within theBelo Horizonte Metropolitan Region. The city was officially founded on December 21, 1995, after separating from the municipality ofIbirité. The name Sarzedo is derived from Francisco Sarzedo, a Spanish engineer who contributed to the construction of the Central Brazil Railway, which played a significant role in the development of the region in the early 20th century. Before its establishment as a municipality, the area was primarily inhabited by agricultural communities. Sarzedo's economy is driven by various industries, services, and agriculture, particularly the production of vegetables.[2]
