History

[edit]

At the time of theDuchy of Lorraine, the village was part of theseigneury of Sarreck. It belonged to a large, forgotten  area named Westrich, which Albert Eiselé called "ghost country" because its name has been forgotten.[3]

In 1225 Gertrude deDabo died without an heir. The bishoprics ofMetz andStrasbourg took back their fief and Sarreck then became the property ofLa Petite-Pierre and then theLutzelbourgs.[4]

TheThirty Years War did not spare Sarraltroff. It is probably the troops ofBernard of Saxe-Weimar who destroyed the village after the siege of Sarrebourg.[5]
