Jayasiri Sarath Kumara Ranawaka (15 July 1951 – 25 July 2009) was aMember of Parliament representingKalutara Electoral District.[1]

He was educated atNalanda College Colombo.

Ranawaka was first elected toparliament as theUnited National Party candidate at the9th parliamentary election, held on 15 February 1989, formulti-memberelectoral district ofKalutura.[2] He was re-elected at the10th parliamentary election, held on 16 August 1994.[3] He failed to get re-elected at the11th parliamentary election, held on 10 October 2000, but was successful at the13th parliamentary election, held on 2 April 2004, where he stood as one of theUnited National Front/United National Party candidates.[4]

Ranawaka died on the morning of 25 July 2009 atSri Jayawardenapura General Hospital.[5][6] His parliamentary replacement,Ananda Lakshman Wijemanna, was sworn in on 6 August 2009.[7]
