Sarai Kale Khan RRTS station[1] is an under-construction station located in theSouth East Delhi district ofDelhi, India. It is designed for high-speed trains operating on theRapidX network, capable of reaching speeds up to 180 km/h. The station will serve as both a terminus and an originating station for three priorityRRTS corridors under the first phase:Delhi-Panipat,Delhi-Alwar, andDelhi-Meerut.[2]

Commencement of operations at the Sarai Kale Khan RRTS station has been plagued with several delays, with the station missing several deadlines in succession: June, mid-September, and late September of 2025. Officials overseeing the project stated that while al the civil works and trial runs concluded as scheduled, the station will not be rendered operational until thePrime Minister inaugurates it.[3]

As of 26 October 2025, the station is yet to be made functional.

History

TheNational Capital Region Transport Corporation, a joint venture between theGovernment of India and the governments of the states ofDelhi,Uttar Pradesh,Rajasthan, andHaryana, invited tenders in February 2020 for the construction of the Sarai Kale Khan RRTS station, along with the 4.3 km stretch fromSarai Kale Khan toNew Ashok Nagar of the 82.15 kmDelhi-Meerut RRTS line.[4]Afcons Infrastructure was entrusted with the construction of the station.[4]

Station layout

The Sarai Kale Khan RRTS station will feature six elevated platforms, with the station building constructed below the platform level. These six platforms will serve four tracks dedicated to regular train services.[5]

The Sarai Kale Khan RRTS station will consist of three levels: platform, concourse, and street level. It will be 215 meters long and 50 meters wide, with the station constructed 15 meters above ground level.[5][6]
