Sara Ilonka Däbritz (born 15 February 1995) is a German professionalfootballer who plays as amidfielder forLiga F clubReal Madrid. She also played for theGermany national team.
Däbritz began her junior career atSpVgg SV Weiden andSC Freiburg before joining the senior team ofSC Freiburg in 2012. In 2015, she moved toBayern Munich.[2] In 2019, she agreed a move toParis Saint-Germain.[3] During the 2020/21 season, she appeared 18 times, scoring three goals and providing eight assists as Paris won theDivision 1 Féminine title. In June 2022, she signed a contract withOlympique Lyonnais to keep her at the club until the 2025 season.[4]
On 19 June 2025, Däbritz signed for Spanish clubReal Madrid on a two-year deal until 30 June 2027.[5] She joined from French sideOL Lyonnes, where she had won three Division 1 Féminine titles and a French Cup. The transfer marked her return to club football in a third major European league, having previously played forParis Saint-Germain,Bayern Munich andOL Lyonnes
On 29 June 2013, Däbritz made her debut at senior level coming in as a second-half substitute during a friendly match againstJapan. She was called up to be part of thenational team for the successful campaign at theUEFA Women's Euro 2013.[6] In 2014, she was part of theGermany U-20 team at the2014 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup,[7] achieving another title with a contribution of five goals for which she received the Bronze Shoe. Named for Germany's national squad for the2015 FIFA Women's World Cup, she scored her first senior goal during the tournament's match againstIvory Coast.
She was part of the squad for the2016 Summer Olympics, where Germany won the gold medal.[8][9]
At the2019 FIFA Women's World Cup, she scored a goal in Germany's 1–0, and 4–0 wins overSpain andSouth Africa, earning the player of the match award on both occasions.[10] She scored in Germany's 3–0 triumph overNigeria, bringing her goal total to three for the tournament.
She was part of the squad which reached the semifinals of theUEFA Women's Euro 2025, losing 1–0 after extra time toSpain in what would be her last appearance for Germany.[11][12][13]
In October 2025, she announced her retirement from international football.[14] She had played in every calendar year for Germany since making her senior debut in 2013.[15]
