Gujarati folk artistArvind Barot performedSanedo on stage in the 1980s and deserves credit for bringing it to the mainstream. However, it was another Gujarati folk artist, Maniraj Barot, who madeSanedo widely popular among Gujaratis, and it is now commonly played duringNavratri and at many wedding celebrations. ASanedo topic can be anything from romance or youth to satire.[3]

It is frequently played during the festival ofNavratri, wedding celebrations and parties.
The music played in the background during aSanedo recital is from a musical instrument calleddaklu. It is similar in shape to a damaru but is considerably larger.
