Samuel Moore (1 December 1838 – 20 July 1911) was an English translator, lawyer and colonial administrator.[1] He is best known for the first English translation ofDas Kapital and the only authorised translation ofThe Communist Manifesto which was thoroughly verified and supplied with footnotes byFriedrich Engels.[2][1][3][4] Moore also wrote a summary of a notebook byKarl Marx which was published as Chapter III of thethird volume ofDas Kapital.[5]
