Sam Grove-White (born 29 April 1992) is a professionalrugby union referee who represents theScottish Rugby Union.[1]
Grove-White began playing rugby withMontrose minis and then Angus Colts. However, when he was at university, an injured ankle ended his playing career and he decided to start refereeing rugby union instead.[2]
Grove-White has refereed in the JapaneseTop League in 2015 as part of aScottish Rugby Union initiative to create links with Scotland and Japan.[2][3]
He has also refereed in theScottish Premiership.[4][5][6][7]
Grove-White now referees in theUnited Rugby Championship.
He refereed his first game in theSuper 6 in a match betweenStirling County andAyrshire Bulls.[8]
He was picked as a referee for theWorld Rugby Sevens Series of 2016-17 season.[9] This has continued through to the 2018-19 season.[10][11]
Grove-White has refereed in the Under 20 Six Nations.[12]
He has also refereed in the 2018 Commonwealth Games.[13][14]
He refereed in the 2 January 2021 1st round1872 Cup match.[15]
Grove-White has a degree in Business Management from Robert Gordon University.[16]
