Samantha Child (née Charlton, born 7 December 1991) is a New Zealandfield hockey player. She has competed for theNew Zealand women's national field hockey team (theBlack Sticks Women), including for the team at the2012,2016 and2020 Summer Olympics.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

Life

Born inWellington, Charlton spent most of her formative years living inTauranga and attendedOtumoetai College.[7] As of August 2012[update], she resides inAuckland, where she is a student atMassey University inAlbany.[1][2]

She was part of the New Zealand teams that won gold at the2018 Commonwealth Games and bronze at the2014 Commonwealth Games.[5]

Overall, she competed in more than 250 games for New Zealand.[5]

She married fellow New Zealand hockey playerMarcus Child.[5]

She participated at the2020 Women's FIH Pro League.[8]
