Salvon Ahmed (born December 30, 1998) is an American professionalfootballrunning back for theIndianapolis Colts of theNational Football League (NFL). He playedcollege football for theWashington Huskies.

Early life

Ahmed attendedJuanita High School inKirkland, Washington[1] He was named to the USA Today all-state team at defensive back.[2] He rushed for 1,300 yards and 13 touchdowns as a senior despite being limited to just six games due to injury. He was also named to the Seattle Times all-area team as both a senior and junior. In high school, he also played basketball and ran track (sprints and jumps).

College career

On July 25, 2019, Ahmed was named to preseason watch lists for thePaul Hornung Award.[3]

San Francisco 49ers

After playing three years atWashington, Ahmed was signed by theSan Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent on May 1, 2020,[6] but was waived on August 25.[7]

Miami Dolphins

On August 26, 2020, Ahmed was claimed off waivers by theMiami Dolphins.[8] He was waived during final roster cuts on September 5,[9] and signed to thepractice squad two days later.[10] On October 9, he was promoted to the active roster.[11] In Week 9, he made his NFL debut against theArizona Cardinals and had seven carries for 38 rushing yards.[12] He earned his first start and scored his first professional rushingtouchdown in 2020 against theLos Angeles Chargers.[13]In Week 15 against theNew England Patriots, Ahmed rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown during the 22–12 win.[14]

On March 10, 2023, Ahmed re-signed with the Dolphins on a one-year contract.[15]

On March 14, 2024, Ahmed re-signed for a fifth season with the Dolphins.[16] On July 18, Ahmed was placed on the Active/Non-football injury or illness (NFI) list.[17] He was waived on August 19.[18]

Denver Broncos

On October 1, 2024, Ahmed was signed to theDenver Broncos' practice squad.[19] On October 8, he was released by the Broncos.[20]

Indianapolis Colts

On October 16, 2024, Ahmed signed with theIndianapolis Colts' practice squad.[21] He signed a reserve/future contract with Indianapolis on January 6, 2025.[22] On August 3, Ahmed suffered a severe ankle injury requiring him to be carted off the field in training camp due to a hip drop tackle.[23]

Personal life

While in college, Ahmed put together a rap album with his friends called A Safehouse Summer. The album consisted of six original songs that Ahmed wrote and recorded. His favorite artist isTupac. He has him tattooed on his arm and he hasNipsey Hussle tattooed on his leg.[24]
