Salar railway station is a railway station on theHowrah–Azimganj line ofHowrah railway division ofEastern Railway zone. It is situated atSalar, Murshidabad in the Indian state ofWest Bengal.[1]
In 1913, the Hooghly–Katwa Railway constructed a5 ft 6 in (1,676 mm)broad gauge line from Bandel to Katwa, and the Barharwa–Azimganj–Katwa Railway constructed the5 ft 6 in (1,676 mm)broad gaugeBarharwa–Azimganj–Katwa loop.[2][3] With the construction of theFarakka Barrage and opening of the railway bridge in 1971, the railway communication picture of this line were completely changed. The station electrified in August 2018 . Total 46 trains including number of Express, Passengers andEMU stop at Salar.[4] Distance betweenHowrah and Salar railway station is approximately 163 km.[5]
