Saint-Loup-Lamairé (French pronunciation:[sɛ̃lulamɛʁe]) is acommune in theDeux-Sèvresdepartment in westernFrance.
The commune was formed in 1974 by the merger of two former communes:Saint-Loup-sur-Thouet andLamairé.
As indicated by its name, the village of Saint-Loup-sur-Thouet is situated on theRiver Thouet. Thelong-distance walking routeGR 36 also passes through, en route fromOuistreham, on the coast of theEnglish Channel, toBourg-Madame, on the border withSpain.[3][4]
