Saifuddin Choudhury (1 August 1952 – 14 September 2014), was an Indian politician who was aCPI(M) leader and MP fromWest Bengal state ofIndia. In February 2001 he formedParty of Democratic Socialism (PDS).[1]
He was elected to theLok Sabha on aCPI(M) ticket fromKatwa (Lok Sabha constituency) in 1980, 1984, 1989 and 1991.[2] He took a progressive role inShah Bano case in his tenure as aMember of Parliament.[3] He later took important role during discussion onNarasima Rao government also.[4] He fared badly in the 2009 election fromJadavpur (Lok Sabha constituency), getting just 0.46% of the total votes polled. His membership of the party was not renewed.[5][6]
