Sacahuista (foaled 1984 inKentucky) is an AmericanThoroughbredChampionracehorse. She is a descendant ofNearco through both herChampion sireBold Ruler, as well as through her dam Nalees Flying Flag.

Sacahuista was purchased as a yearling for $670,000 by futureNational Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame inducteeD. Wayne Lukas for owners Barry Beal and Lloyd French, Jr. Sacahuista made nine starts at age two, of which she won four and was second in three. Sent off as theparimutuel betting favorite in the 1986Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies atSanta Anita Park under jockeyLaffit Pincay, Jr., she finished fourth behind winnerBrave Raj.

When she raced at age three, Sacahuista's official record shows she won two of nine starts but in fact she finished first in both theCotillion Handicap and theRuffian Handicap but was disqualified for interference. Under jockeyRandy Romero, she then won theGrade ISpinster Stakes before capturing theBreeders' Cup Distaff atHollywood Park Racetrack. Sacahuista's 1987 performances earned her theEclipse Award asAmerican Champion Three-Year-Old Filly.

Before being retired tobroodmare duty, Sacahuista raced three times at age four. Her best result was a second. Of her offspring, from sireRed Ransom she notably produced millionaire runnerEkraar, who won multiple stakes races inEurope, including theItalianGroup OneGran Premio del Jockey Club. Through her mating toMr. Prospector, Sacahuista is also the dam of the successfulAustralian-based sire Hussonet.
