TheSaab 38 (also known asB3LA orA 38/Sk 38) was a single-engine jettrainer andattack aircraft planned bySaab during the 1970s.[1][2][3] The project was a collaboration between Saab and theItalian aircraft manufacturerAermacchi.[citation needed] It was to replace the olderSaab 105 jet trainer in theSwedish Air Force, but the aircraft never got past the drawing board and was canceled in 1979 in favour of the more advancedSaab JAS 39 Gripen fighter.
